Kelly M. Riedeman
DVM, Practice Owner
Dr. Kelly Riedeman bought the practice from Dr. Matthews in 2008. She is a lifelong resident of Genoa. Dr. Kelly completed her undergraduate at The University of Findlay majoring in PreVet and Biology. Following that, she graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Dr. Kelly and her husband, Steve, have two daughters, Cecilia and Veronica. When she is not caring for her patients, Dr. Kelly, with the help of her daughters, cares for their own pets. They have two horses, two miniature cows, two dogs, a goat and 8 cats.
Jody Ehrmin
DVM, Associate Veterinarian
Jody was born and raised in West Toledo. She proudly went to The Ohio State University for eight years, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. She was the first full-time veterinarian at the Toledo Area Humane Society, when they were in Arrowhead Park, and she started their spay and neuter program. She worked in Emergency Medicine for eight years at the Animal and Critical Care Center in West Toledo, before they were purchased by Med Vet. She has been with Owen’s Ark Veterinary Clinic since 2011. She loves to sing and grows orchids and carnivorous plants. She has 3 rescued cats, one that was orphaned at the age of 2 weeks, and one who has nerve damage in one of his legs. This does not slow him down!
Chelsea Nissen
DVM, Associate Veterinarian
Darla A. Boyk
DVM, Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Darla Boyk graduated from The Ohio State University in 1989. She has enjoyed practicing Small Animal Medicine in Northwest Ohio ever since. Darla and her husband live near Pemberville, which was her hometown. Her interests include spending time with their two adult children, hiking, and traveling.
Lindsay Schiavone

Ariel
RVT (Practice Manager)
Ariel started working at Owen’s Ark in 2011 while she was earning her Registered Veterinary Tech License from Stautzenberger. After six years, she took a brief three-year hiatus to pursue a career in Medical Research. She returned to Owen’s Ark in August of 2020 as our Office Manager.
Prior to graduating from Stautzenberger, she graduated from OSU ATI with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Animal Science and a Minor in Horse Reproduction.
Ariel and her husband, Evan, reside in Helena, where they own a horse farm. They have a daughter named Macie Mae and another on the way. They also have a heeler mix named Luna Lovegood. They enjoy competing on the rodeo circuit in their free time.
Sydney
Veterinary Assistant
Sydney graduated from Woodmore High School/Penta Career Center in their Small Animal Care Progran in 2008. She has been in the Veterinary Field since 2018. Sydney has three dogs; Bessie, Athena, and Scout. She is a lover of both cats and dogs. She is also is a ‘foodie’ and willing to try anything new. Sydney is always willing to help others and always has a smile on her face. She loves free painting and collecting/giving plants.
Maggie
RVT, Veterinary Technician
Maggie started in the veterinary field when she was 18 years old. She graduated with her Associate of Applied Science from Columbus State Community College in May 2017. Maggie married her high school sweetheart Dan in October 2020. Together, they have two children, Oliver and Ellis. Maggie has dogs, cats, a rabbit, and a saltwater fish tank.
In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, outdoor adventures, or just sitting down with a cup of coffee and a good book.
Emily
Veterinary Technician
Emily Young attended Bradford School Vet Tech Institute located in Columbus in 2015. She has been a part of the Owen’s Ark family since 2016. At home she has two fur babies: Oreo (cat) and Jinx (dog). In her free time, she likes to relax, read, and spend time with her family and friends.
Rachael
Veterinary Assistant, Marketing Director
Rachael is the face behind our Facebook page as our Marketing Director. She has been a part of the Ark family since 2019, starting as a Veterinary Assistant. She graduated in 2019 from Terra State with a degree in Marketing, Management, and Business. Her pets at home include two barn cats (Chase and Timmy), One German Shepard (Triton), a 2021 Dark Bay Solid Paint Gelding (Leroy), and a 2019 Bay Quarter Horse Mare (Mazie). Rachael’s hobbies include boating out on Lake Erie with her parents, snowmobiling, spending time outdoors and showing her horse on the AQHA /APHA circuit. Rachael is also a small business owner of a few different knacks. She operates her small Photography business (Rachael Rayelle Photography), an Etsy shop where she does custom goodies (River Runs Boutique), and recently started a Western Horse Show Pad Design Company where she creates unique and affordable horse show pads (River Runs Show Pads LLC). Rachael also works full-time as a New/Used Auto Sales Consultant at Tri Motor Ford Sales in Oak Harbor, Ohio.
Laurie
Veterinary Assistant/Veterinary Receptionist, Accounts Receivable Manager
Laurie has 30 year experience working in the veterinary field as assistant and receptionist. She has experienced many changes in veterinary medicine beginning her career with Dr A Matthews and continuing with Dr. Kelly Riedman.
Laurie loves all animals big and small and is always the first to hand out a pat and treat to all those that come through the door. Every client and pet holds a special place in her heart.
Laurie has 4 children and resides in Graytown with her boxer pup Remi and her kitten Albert.
In her spare time Laurie enjoys spending time with her 7 grandchildren(with number 8 coming in January) and 2 special great grandsons which she loves clearly.
You can always find her in her flower gardens or in the pool in the summertime. Laurie’s motto is “Fun in the Sun” and go Bucks!
Kevin
Veterinary Assistant
Kevin started at Owens Ark in January of 2018. He earned his B.S in Agriculture from The Ohio State University in 2017. Kevin studied Animal Biosciences with the intent to purse his D.V.M. He has been studying, working, shadowing, interning in the Vet Med Field since June 2014 (5 years’ experience) He has one dog, a yorkie named Lexi. His hobbies include camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities.
Laney
Veterinary Assistant
Laney started working at Owen’s Ark in December 2021. She is a 2021 graduate of Woodmore High School and is currently attending The Ohio State University majoring in Agribusiness. She loves animals and agriculture, especially cattle and other livestock. She raises and shows cattle as well as goats, chickens, ducks, and rabbits. She also has two dogs, an Australian Shepherd named Buckeye and a Saint Berdoodle named Moose.
Anna
Receptionist/Prescription Diet Manager
Anna has been in the Veterinary field for 33 years. She started with Dr. Matthews on September 15, 1988. She is so grateful for the friends and family she has made over the years working at Owen’s Ark. Anna has been married to her wonderful husband Larry Ray of 48 years. She was blessed with 2 sons, and 9 wonderful Grandchildren ranging from age 1-25 years of age, with another grandson on the way. She has a fur baby named Auldwin that’s 9 years old. He is a Pitt mixed with lab…and a true “mama’s boy”. Anna’s hobbies and interests include fishing, camping, sewing, traveling, gardening, canning, cooking and when time allows, an occasional trip to a Casino to meet “Lady Unlucky”.
Wherever I am, or however long I will be in this field, my heart will always be here regardless.

Jan
Receptionist
Jan started working here at Owens Ark as a Receptionist in May of 2018. She enjoys seeing all the pets that have come to visit us. That is for sure her favorite part of the job. She grew up on a farm with lots of pets. Dogs, cats, horses, cows, pigs, bunnies, and hamsters. She has 2 cats named Ingrid and Lucy and a new puppy named Luke. When she is not working, she enjoys bicycling, working outside and spending time with her pets.
Amanda
Veterinary Assistant
Amanda has been with Owens Ark since 2019. She is currently attending The University of Findlay studying pre-vet hoping to further her studies to become a small and large animal veterinarian. At home Amanda has a cattle dog named Oakley, a Quarter Horse mare named Fergie, and two cats named Joey and Waden. Also on the farm lives goats, sheep, chickens, and ducks. In her free time she enjoys riding her horse and paddle boarding with her dog.
Keston
Veterinary Assistant
Keston joined the team in July of 2022. He is a Senior at Oak Harbor High School. Keston is the Senior Class President. He plans on attending BGSU majoring in either Biology, Chemistry or Pre-Veterinary Medicine. Keston rides for the Oak Harbor Equestrian Team and enjoys showing horses. He has a horse named Raisin and a corgi named Chloe.
Hannah
Veterinary Assistant
Hannah joined The Owen’s Ark family at the end of 2023. She moved to Northwest Ohio from West Union Ohio. Prior to her move up North she worked at an equine training and boarding facility as a Farm Hand. She spent her days teaching young children how to care for, and work with horses. Hannah also owned a farm of her own during her time in West Union, which included several horses, sheep, chickens, cats, a ferret, mice and dogs. Currently Hannah has one dog, Nova, which her and her husband take mountain biking. Hannah’s hobbies include snowboarding, baking, fishing, camping, hiking and kayaking.
Trina
Receptionist
Trina and her husband, Jeff, moved back to Ohio in 2019. After working at a pet boarding facility for four years, Trina was excited to join the team at Owens Ark in January 2024. Trina has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Business from Indiana University. Her interests include Bible study, reading, cycling, kayaking, and hiking. She spends as much time as possible at Cedar Point, and is always up for an adventure!
Trina loves anything with fur (except spiders). It is her greatest pleasure to play a role in the care of your pets.
Trina lives on a farm in Oak Harbor with her husband, their two dogs, Delta and Willow, and their cat, Pennywinkle.
Charles
Office Kitty
Please welcome our new office kitty, Charles! This little guy was brought to us after getting hit by a car and has been recovering with us ever since. The whole office has fallen in love with him and we’re so excited to welcome him to the fam! If anyone remembers Glenn, then you know Charles has some big paws to fill
